Seven steps from India to a US branch.
Steps 1 to 4 happen from home, with us. Step 6 is the trip. Nothing about the visit should be a surprise.
Plan my bank visit-
With us, from India
Choose the state with the bank in mind
This is the step most founders get wrong. Some branches only open accounts for companies formed in, or registered to do business in, their own state. So we decide where you will bank before we decide where to form, on a free call.
-
With us, from India
Form the LLC
We file your Articles of Organization and draft an Operating Agreement that names the owners and states who may open and run bank accounts for the company. Bankers look for that clause. Your registered agent is set up at the same time.
-
With us, from India
Get the EIN
No US bank opens a business account without the company's EIN. We apply to the IRS and send you the confirmation letter (CP 575). Book travel only after the EIN is issued.
-
With us, from India
Build the bank document pack
A certified copy of your Articles, a recent Certificate of Good Standing, the signed Operating Agreement, the EIN letter and a one-page company profile: what you sell, to whom, where payments come from and your expected monthly volume. We check that every name, address and date matches.
-
You, with our question list
Choose a branch and book an appointment
Call the branch's business banker before you travel. We give you the exact questions to ask: do they open accounts for owners living outside the US, which IDs they accept, the minimum opening deposit, and whether every owner must attend. Get the answers before you book flights.
-
You, in the US
Visit the branch
Plan for one to two hours. Bring originals and copies of the pack, your passport and a second photo ID, and the opening deposit. The banker will ask about your business; answer as in your company profile. You sign the signature card and set up online banking at the desk. We are on WhatsApp during the visit if a question comes up.
-
You, back in India
Run the account from India
Online banking and wires work from anywhere. Statements and your debit card go to the US mailing address on file, so plan that address before the visit. Keep your LLC in good standing with its annual filings; banks check.
Get the documents right and the visit is simple.
Tell us your travel month and we will work back from it: state, EIN, document pack.
The document pack, in full.
Banks differ, so we confirm the list for your branch. This is what a branch usually expects, and who prepares each item.
Four things to settle before you fly.
Visa
Most founders travel on a US visitor (B1/B2) visa, and opening your own company's bank account is an ordinary business-visitor activity. Visa questions belong with the consulate or an immigration adviser; we do not give visa advice.
Timing
Travel after the EIN is issued, usually 2 to 4 weeks after you order. Ask for the Certificate of Good Standing close to your travel date so it is fresh at the branch.
Who travels
If your company has more than one owner, ask the banker whether every owner must attend or only the person opening the account. The answer decides who books a ticket.
Where
Pick a city you can reach easily and a branch that has confirmed it will see you. If the branch wants a company from its own state, that shapes step 1, which is why we plan the bank before we form.
What we do, and what we do not
We are a company formation service. We form your LLC so it suits the bank, get the EIN, build the document pack and brief you for the visit. The account is opened by you, in your own name, at the bank's branch.
- We have no special arrangement with any bank, and no one can guarantee an account. The bank decides.
- Bank and branch rules change. We confirm the current requirements with you before you travel.
- We never ask for your online banking password, codes or card details.
Two ways in.
Forming with us, the bank route is part of the package. Already have a US LLC? We can still prepare you.

Do I really have to travel to the US?
For a traditional branch bank, almost always. Most branch banks meet at least one owner in person before opening an account for a company owned from outside the US. Forming the company and getting the EIN need no travel at all.
Which bank should I go to?
Large national banks and some regional banks open business accounts for owners living outside the US, but the answer can differ from one branch to the next. We help you shortlist branches and give you the questions to confirm with the banker before you book.
Do I need an SSN or ITIN?
Many banks open a business account with the company's EIN and the owner's passport. Some ask owners for a US taxpayer number. This is one of the questions on our list, so you know before you fly.
Does the state I form in matter?
It can. Some branches want the company formed in, or registered to do business in, their state. That is why we settle the bank plan before filing, not after.
How long does the visit take?
Usually one to two hours at the branch with an appointment. The debit card and some documents arrive by post afterwards at your US mailing address.
Will you come with me to the bank?
No. You meet the banker yourself, as the owner. We brief you before the visit and stay reachable on WhatsApp during it in case the banker asks for something unexpected.
Can the bank close my account later?
Yes, banks can close accounts, usually when activity does not match what they were told or the company falls out of good standing. Keep payments consistent with your company profile and keep your annual filings up to date.
How do I bring the money to India?
By wire transfer from your US account to your Indian account. Indian residents who own a company abroad also have reporting duties in India, including under the RBI's overseas investment rules, and money you take out may be taxable in India. Please plan this with your chartered accountant.
